The Switch 2 makes it possible for Rebirth to come to Nintendo
Nintendo will reveal Switch 2 last Thursday. And it was true! But, the official Nintendo Switch reveal wasn’t the only thing that Nate predicted. He claimed that Final Fantasy Remake and Rebirth were coming to Xbox and Switch 2.
According to him and his sources, Remake will be coming to other two platforms in 2025. Rebirth will releasing next year for Xbox and Switch 2.
Let's break this all down. Nothing has been confirmed yet by Square Enix, Xbox, and Nintendo. However, that doesn’t mean there is no truth to these claims. Especially, since Nate was right about the Switch 2 reveal.
Honestly, I am hoping this is all true. In Xbox’s case, Xbox players have been wanting to get their hands on the FF7 Remake Series. I can see Xbox Series being able to run Remake and Rebirth. Although, how well it runs Rebirth remains to be seen. But, it’s plausible that both games and Part 3 will be fine on the Xbox.
As for the Switch 2, I see it running Remake with no problem. But, Rebirth may be a different story. Without knowing the full specs of the Switch 2, it’s hard to imagine Rebirth running smoothly. There could be some compromises and optimization involved with the Switch 2.
However, Mario Kart 9 ran smoothly on Switch 2 from the brief seconds shown during the teaser reveal. There was also lighting, shadows, and ground textures. Mario Kart 9 may be capable of having 24 racers at the same time. The snippet of the Switch 2’s power and performance gives me a lot of hope that the evolved Switch is capable of running Rebirth.
Despite my current yet small reservations on the Switch 2’s capabilities, I am still fervently hoping Square Enix can get Rebirth on the Switch 2. It would be a game changer for them considerably especially in the sales department. Most importantly, I want all players to be able to play this awesome Remake series. Plus, I want Square Enix to thrive again.
Furthermore, if the Switch 2 can run Square Enix’s current modern games and future ones. Then, Square Enix will be a much better state than they’re now. After all, the original Switch is extremely popular especially in Japan. Everything will become clear once Nintendo shows us how powerful the Switch 2.
