Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster has sold 3 million copies. Back in May, the Pixel Remaster series sold over 2 million copies. As a result, a million copies have been sold since May.
This major sales jump could be thanks to the Pixel Remasters being released consoles. The remasters arrive on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch back on April 19th. Originally, the remasters were first launched on PC via Steam, IOS and Android devices. The Pixel Remasters consists of the first six Final Fantasy games. Starting with the first Final Fantasy all the way to the sixth game.
This is a major win for Square Enix. Selling over 3 million units means that there is a large market for classic 2D games. Coupled this with the successes of Octopath Traveler 2 and Bravely Default 2, Square Enix could capitalize more with these remakes, remasters, and HD 2.5 games. It is likely that the FF Pixel Remasters Series will continue to move more units.
