After stealthy dropping a new trailer, Square Enix released more information on Yuffie and Cait Sith. This information tells us more about their play styles. In addition, new details were shared about Elena, Captain Titov, Shinra 8 and Starboard Junon.

Starboard Junon

I briefly went over Starboard Junon in the previous article. This will be the place where Shinra hosts Rufus’s welcome parade. It is also the place where we see Roche make his Rebirth debut possibly.

Here's the description for Starboard Junon:

“An urban residential zone within the fortified metropolis overlooking the ocean. In addition to housing for Shinra personnel, high-end boutiques and restaurants line its streets. Currently, preparations are underway here for Rufus Shinra’s presidential inauguration parade.”

Shinra-8

The infamous cargo ship from the original game is now called Shinra-8. And it is now a cruise ship. Furthermore, this cruise ship is under command of Captain Titov. There is also Queen Blood entertainment happening on the cruise ship.

Considering what happens in this cargo ship in the original. I am hoping that the cargo turned cruise ship, Shinra-8 won’t have anything bad happen to it. Like a certain One-Winged Angel or an evil alien crashing the ship. I highly doubt it though.

Here's the description on Shinra-8

"A Shinra cruise ship that ferries travelers between the planet’s eastern and western continents. After departing the port of Junon, it heads for the resort town of Costa del Sol. As part of the on-board entertainment, the ship plays host to a Queen’s Blood tournament."

Cait Sith

“This gregarious cat fights from atop his sturdy moogle mount, who provides both mobility and support during battle. When Cait’s not duking it out, his Cait Sith & Moogle high-tech helper aids him in hacking computer systems and telling fortunes.” -Square Enix Blog

Cait Sith
Cait Sith

Originally, Cait Sith was a robotic cat that was always on his giant moogle mount. In Rebirth, he can move around with or without his giant moogle. This makes the Remake version of Cait Sith more intriguing. Even more so when it comes to combat.

Cait Sith’s Gameplay

“He darts about the battlefield with the agility of an acrobat (or perhaps a cat?), assailing enemies from every side. When he wants to switch things up, he brings out his moogle pal, changing his attacks.” - Square Enix Blog

Cait Sith can easily maneuver around the enemies and attack them from different angles. When he wants to change things up then he can summon Moogle. Summoning the moogle will Cait Sith’s game play.

Abilities

Cait Sith’s most exclusive abilities depend on luck mostly. His abilities can either help the party or hurt them. But, his ability, “Let’s Ride” allows to jump on his moogle. This enhances his regular attacks and his unique abilities.

Unique Ability: Dropkick

When riding his moogle, Cait can give enemies the boot with his Dropkick ability. Once the moogle has filled the Moogle meter with his own attacks. Once the Moogle meter is full, Cait Sith can use the meter with abilities like DEFENSE. DEFENSE will increase the party’s defense stats.

I never thought I say this. But I am invested into playing Cait Sith. His gameplay is so versatile that you can use him in variety of ways. Whether it is attacking enemies’ solo from different sides. Or Cait Sith is riding his moogle supporting or harming his allies. Cait Sith will be excitable and intriguing party member.

Basic Attacks

If you played the Intermission DLC, then you know already how Yuffie works. Yuffie strikes enemies with her large shuriken. Her speed allows her to fill up her ATB faster than most.

Unique Abilities

Yuffie can switch to long range by throwing her shuriken. Once she throws her shuriken, she can bombard enemies with magic infused ninjutsu. Lastly, Yuffie can take advantage of an enemy’s elemental weakness by using her variety of elemental ninjutsu.

New Ability: Doppelganger

The newest ability for Yuffie is her doppelganger ability. With doppelganger, Yuffie creates a clone which helps her attacks enemies. On her own, Yuffie is adept at chaining her attacks and switching elemental affinities. The clone can also help Yuffie in taking advantage of an enemy’s elemental weakness even further.

New Characters

Elena

“Feast your eyes on the Turks’ latest and greatest─Elena! But you three can call me your worst nightmare!”

Elena’s description from the Square Enix Blog:

"Though she may be a rookie, she’s as skilled with her fists and a gun as anyone else in the Turks unit of Shinra’s General Affairs Division. She and her partner Rude are tasked with pursuing the black-robed figures, which she is more than happy to do if it means being assigned a mission with Tseng."

Elena’s introduction in the original game was more polite. Her debut in Rebirth suggests that she is an energetic brawler ready to demolish the party. And seeing her moves in the Summer Games Fest trailer, she could be a formidable fighter. And we have been seeing more of her in Rebirth. Of course, that could mean more boss battles with the fiery Elena.

Captain Titov

“Be sure to mind your P’s and Q’s, huh? Lotta bigwigs on board.”

Captian Titov- Captain of Shinra 8
Captian Titov- Captain of Shinra 8

Captain Titov’s description:

The captain of the Shinra-8, responsible for overseeing safe passage for all who travel between Junon and Costa del Sol. He’s earned a sterling reputation among his crew, thanks to his unerring devotion to his duties. This is most evident during the various festivities held aboard his vessel, which he personally—and passionately—emcees.

Captain Titov is the newest character in Rebirth. And doesn’t appear to be based on any character that was re-imagined from the original game. Judging by his description, Captain Titov is passionate about his duties as the cruise ship’s captain. I am just hoping that he survives any possible calamity that may befall the ship.

New Synergy: Moogle Pinwheel

Yuffie and Cait Sith have a synergy called Moogle Pinwheel. The two attacks in tandem with a secret ninja move. Judging by the picture, Cait Sith and Yuffie use the moogle as the pinwheel. Then we seen music notes and particle effect shrouding the moogle.

Reaction

A lot of good information was revealed from the new trailer and the Square Enix Blog. I thank Square Enix for not revealing anything major. Also, they are keeping the hype train going.

As long as they don’t reveal any major story elements. Or spoil any big surprises they have in store. I am fine with Square Enix using these short trailers and info drops. Plus, I will continue to go over and break down this information.

How are you feeling about Square Enix’s overall marketing strategy? How do you feel about the new trailer and info drop? Leave your comments below.
