Square Enix revealed new information and the titles of Final Fantasy XVI’s two DLCs. The first is called Echoes of the Fallen. Echoes of the Fallen is now available for the $9.99. Yes, Echoes of the Fallen is available now! As a bonus for purchasing the DLC, players will get Cloud’s Buster Sword!

Here’s the description of the DLC thru the Playstation Store:

"As the sun sets over the land of Valisthea, strange, dark crystals begin to circulate on the black market. Could they be the sinister fruit of a long-slumbering Mothercrystal—one the world never knew existed?"

The second DLC, The Rising Tide, will be available in Spring 2024. The Rising Tide will focus the Levithan the Lost. Levithan is the missing Eikon from eight Wardens. In the announcement trailer for the DLCs, Clive is briefly seen using the water serpent’s abilities in action.

Reaction

I am pleasantly surprised that Square Enix shadow dropped the first FFXVI DLC right after its announcement. Well played, Square Enix. I wasn’t expecting the DLC so soon. However, I look forward to returning to Valisthea with Clive and his band.

While I am happy that Echoes of the Fallen is available now. The other DLC, the Rising Tide, is the one I am excited about the most. The story, the battle with Levithan, and acquiring its Eikonic abilities are the things I mostly look forward to.

I do wish that the DLCs were focusing on the other characters like Cid and Beneditka. However, the DLC director, Kujiraoka, has stated that they would need to create a whole new battle system. Kujiraoka has acknowledged the fans desire for such a thing and logic of it though.

While I understand his sentiment. I stil wouldlove to be able to explore other characters such as Cid and Beneditka. However, the developers have never mentioned that these two DLCs will be the only ones. Here is hoping that Cid DLC will be available someday. And the possibilities for other DLCS exist.

Regardless, I am still stoked to play these DLCs. And Clive has become one of my favorite FF protagonists. So, I am content with continuing his exploits. How do you feel about the FFXVI DLCs? Let me know in the comments below.
