Genshin Impact and Resident 4 Remake also won!
Earlier today, Sony Interactive Entertainment in Japan Asia hosted their Playstation Partners Awards for this year. Sony announced the winners of this year’s Partner Awards. The three games that take home the Grand Awards were Final Fantasy XVI, Genshin Impact and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Grand Awards usually goes to top three games developed with the highest worldwide sales between October 2022 to September 2023.

Awarded to the top three titles developed in the Japan / Asian regions with highest worldwide sales between October 2022 and September 2023.

However, Final Fantasy XVI is not the only Square Enix game to receive recognition. FFVII Ever Crisis also won a Partner Award. And Ever Crisis is in great company as Sonic Frontiers, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6: Flames of Rubicon, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Street Fighter 6 have also won.

Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil Village VR won Special Awards. And Street Fighter receive the same awards. Finally, the five winners of the Users Choice Awards were Armored Core 6, FFXVII, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 and Persona 5 Royal!

Thoughts
FFXVI continues to be highly successful. Receiving a Grand Award with heavy hitters such as Genshin Impact and Resident Evil 4 is no small feat. The sales of Final Fantasy XVI have caused much controversy and discourse in FF fandom. And the discord has spread to the gaming universe too.
I would love to say that FFXVI taking the Grand Award nips this discord in the bud. But I have a feeling that discord will not completely go away. Oh well. I was happy with FFXVI getting more well-deserved recognition.
I also love the fact that FFXVI is in excellent company with the likes of Persona 5 Royal and Armored Core 6. I was not expecting Persona 5 Royal to be on the list of winners. But I can understand why it’s there.
Persona 5 Royal is one of the greatest games ever. More importantly, the main story takes over a hundred hours to complete. With these two elements, it is no surprise that P5R is there. Although, I initially thought the Partners Awards was for recent games.
I would love to give a special shout out to Sonic Frontiers. I played Sonic Frontiers last year and I was deeply impressed with it. Sonic is another beloved franchise of mine. So seeing my favorite blue hedgehog get an award is awesome. Lastly, I will congratulate Resident 4 Remake, Genshin Impact and Street Fighter 6 for winning awards too.
