Nintendo Direct: Sept 14th

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

This direct was nearly full of remakes and remasters. And there was a heavy focus on Mario too. However, the direct had plenty of good announcements that still made itworthwhile. Here are all of the worthwhile announcements for Nintendo:

Splatoon 3 DLC: Side Order

Mario Vs Donkey Kong

The GBA game that came out 2004 is getting a remake on the Nintendo Switch. Donkey Kong steals Mario toys from a factory. And it’s to Mario to get them back. And Mario is bound to come to blows with the thieving Donkey Kong. The game will have local co-op modes. Mario vs Donkey Kong comes out February 16.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Prince of Persia: Lost Crown made appearance in the Direct. This one game I have been keeping my eye on as I love these types of games. Thanks to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The 2D style visuals look fantastic. And the gameplay shifts from swords to arrows. I look forward to playing this on January 18th.

Horizon Chase 2

Horizon Chase is now on the Nintendo Switch. Over a year ago, the game was released for Playstation, Xbox, PC, and mobile games. Now Switch players can enjoy this game too.

F-Zero 99

The F-Zero 99 returns to the Nintendo Switch. And it is now a battle royale racing game with 99 racers?! F-Zero 99 is available for free. However, it is only for these who have active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. And there is a wireless SNES controller available too.

Tomb Raider I-III RemasterS

The remasters of the classic Tomb Raider games are coming to the Switch on February 14th. These remasters will give you the ability to switch between the old school polygon visuals and the new updated graphics. While I have an appreciation for polygon visuals, I am going to go with updated visuals.

Another Code: Recollection

Another Code Recollection is a complication of the original Another Code: Two Memories and its sequel. The sequel, Another Code R, was never released in North America. On January 19, players will be available to experience both games with enhanced graphics.

Saga Emerald Beyond

Thank the cosmos! that Square Enix is still releasing their double AA games. Saga Emerald Beyond was announced during the direct. The game is the newest entry in the Saga series. Players will get to play between a witch, a puppet master, a songstress mech, a dark lord and a detective duo. The game will be released next year for the Nintendo Switch.

Princess Peach: Showtime

The newest Princess game has a name and release date. Princess Peach Showtime will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 22nd, 2024. Princess Peach will be saving the Sparkle Theater together with Stella, the magical theater’s guardian. With Stella’s power, Princess Peach will transform into different outfits which will grant various powers. And these outfits will change the gameplay frequently.

Super Mario RPG

We got another look at the remake of Super Mario RPG. The latest trailer showed some new gameplay mechanics. In addition, the enhanced visuals of this game are vibrant and charming. The remake comes out on November 17, 2023.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Unsurprisingly, Detective Pikachu Returns got another trailer. The trailer focuses on coffee loving sleuth being aided by other Pokemon. Growlithe uses its nose to sniff out clues and Darmanitan smashing rocks. Detective Pikachu’s newest adventure begins on October 6th, 2023.

Unicorn Overlord

Unicorn Overlord is a new strategic RPG. It is a new IP being developed by both Vanillaware and Atlus. The game will allow players to build an army of 60 distinct characters. And grow your renown across the game’s five regions. Unicorn Overlord launches on March 8th, 2024.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle’s launch suffered from a few delays. One of these delays being the pandemic. But that is behind us thankfully. The spiritual successor to the beloved Suikoden series has a new date release of April 23, 2024.

Luigi Mansion 2 HD

The remake of Luigi Mansion received a new trailer. The game was already in development. But now the game has a release window of next summer.

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door HD

One of the most beloved Mario games is getting a remaster for the Nintendo Switch. The reveal trailer gave an extensive look of this charming yet insane remaster of this game. Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door HD is coming out next year.

Trombone Champ

This crazy indie game is coming to the Switch. Trombone Champs was released PC exclusively. The game will take advantage of the Switch’s Joy Con IR motion sensors and the gyro controls. This one of these games that is not my cup of tea but has me intrigued to try it out.

Dave The Diver

Another indie PC game is coming to Switch on October 26. Dave The Diver is a game in which players dive for fish. These fish become the sushi you serve at a restaurant. For someone who loves sushi, I may pick this one up.

Warioware: Move It

The latest Wario game made an appearance. The trailer showed that the game emphasizes movement. And these movements involve strange formations and the moves associated with them. Warioware: Move It has over 200 microgames.

The Nintendo Museum

Nintendo provided an update on its new museum. Development is going well. And completion of the museum is on track for March 2024. The roof of the museum has the iconic question box found in Mario games.

New Amibos

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be receiving new amibos of princess Zelda and Ganondorf. The beloved princess and demon amibos will be released on November 3rd. And the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 amibos of Noah and Mio will be available January 18, 2024.

Smash Ultimate will getting a new amibo too. The amibo will be Sora, the final DLC fighter. The amibo of the Kingdom Hearts will be coming out next year. Oh Nintendo, you are too good at making people spend money. Including your truly.
